This place is great. Go every year (10 years) with my wife and two daughters. Its old forge!! If you're looking to spend your vacation on your phones or watching tv, this is not the place for you. BUT, if you want to spend quality family time in old forge, this is exactly where you want to be. Staff super friendly. Rooms are your basic room, no frills but very comfortable and showers are great. Pull up a chair outside and just relax. Look at the lake. Take a walk into town. Deer come up to you. Again, this place is perfect to just unwind and get away.
Can't get much closer to the lake. Great views from the rooms. They all face the lake. Rooms were very recently redone, everything looked very new, and very clean. There is a heated pool in the main lodge, where they have continental breakfast and coffee in the morning. Rooms had microwave and fridge. The only bad thing was That the water pressure in the shower was weak.
The motel is very nice some furniture is dated but still very functional. the beds were comfortable and the room is very clean. The real selling point is the location of the forge it's over looking the water and there is a large lawn area that's great for families with children. The motel is also dog friendly which is also a plus. There is a pool and complementary breafast of bagels and pastries. Staying at the forge has become a family tradition and one that has always been enjoyable.
Great location, very close to town and The Strand. Comfortable and clean rooms. The only issue is the wifi is spotty in the rooms, but we we're hardly in our room so it didn't really matter!
We stayed at this property last night and over 8 years ago and we are not sure why we came back. We were very disappointed that nothing had been done to update the property. We pulled into the motel and there was peeling paint and rotted eaves. The front desk clerk/ owner attempted to be friendly, but she really had to push herself to do so. The two best features of the entire property were the indoor pool and the view. We entered our room and it was like stepping back into the 1970s (probably the last time the property was updated). The room had a very musty odor that reminded me of a dank basement. My wife had stayed at this property with her mom and aunt over 35 years ago and commented that the furniture was probably the same. The price of the room was costly and not worth the view. I am sure there are other properties in Old Forge that are worthy of $150.00 per night.
